This work was inspired by a trip to Uluru, a world heritage site sacred to the Aboriginal people of Australia. The environment at Uluru is harsh with extremes of temperature and drought. The ever-changing light on the red soil and stone create unimaginable colors while the profound darkness of the night sky gives a vivid reading of the star-filled universe. This landscape haunted my memory and demanded expression through paint, image and gesture.
